  • ASU Forte promotes the creation of collagen, which contributes to cartilage strength. It is a 100% plant product and thus the first vegetarian substitute for glucosamine. ASU Forte contains three powerful ingredients. The most important ingredient in ASU Forte is ASU, a specially processed extract of avocado and soy oil. The abbreviation ASU stands for Avocado Soy Unsaponifiables. This ingredient promotes the creation of collagen in cartilage. It thus contributes in a different way from glucosamine to joint protection, but brings about comparable results in many cases. ASU is complemented with powerful ginger root and Cat’s Claw plant extracts, hence the addition ‘Forte’. It has been demonstrated that these extracts have a favourable effect on many biochemical processes in and around joint cartilage. In practice this means a relatively faster result and even better cartilage protection. These ingredients also have a protective influence on the stomach and intestinal walls.

    Details

    Ingredients

Each bottle of ASU Forte contains 180 vegetarian capsules with 330 mg each (150 mg ASU/AvoVida™, 130 mg ginger root extract and 50 mg Cat’s Claw plant extract). The recommended dose is 2 capsules a day (660 mg). Each ingredient’s dosage conforms with scientific studies. One bottle lasts three months with this dosage.

ASU Forte contains the following ingredients:

  • AvoVida™ - ASU, unsaponifiable combination of avocado and soy oil
  • Ginger root extract
  • Microcristalline cellulose (vegetarian capsule)
  • Rice starch
  • Cat's Claw-plant extract
  • Magnesium stearate
  • (The soy used in production of ASU Forte is guaranteed not to be genetically modified)

    How fast does it work?

All of the ingredients in ASU Forte show their effect at their own pace and in their own fashion. The primary ingredient ASU (AvoVida™) requires approximately 2 months before initial changes are recognisable. However, the ingredients ginger root extract and Cat’s Claw plant extract may take effect much more rapidly in many cases. The protection provided by ASU Forte lasts for some time after one stops taking it. Over time, however, the protection dwindles. Most people, therefore, take ASU Forte without interruption. The supplement can be used for longer periods of time. The ingredient ASU has been the subject of various scientific studies for many years now. No serious side effects have been noted in this time. Similarly, research into ginger root extract and Cat’s Claw plant extract has not revealed any harmful side effects. This is in line with the experience of traditional herbalism, in which these products have been used for a long period of time.

    Usage

The recommended dose of ASU Forte is 2 capsules a day. You can take them at the same time or twice a day, as you wish. It is preferable, however, to take the capsules at meal time(s). Do not exceed the recommended dosage. Nutritional supplements should not be used as a replacement for a balanced diet. Do you have difficulty swallowing capsules? You can open the capsules by pulling the two halves apart. The contents may be mixed with water or fruit juice.

    Drug interactions

Blood thinners and coagulation inhibitors: Ginger root extract is one of the ingredients of ASU Forte. This extract can cause an interaction with blood thinning/coagulation inhibiting drugs. The interaction involves an amplification of the effect of the drug. If you use blood thinners or coagulation inhibitors and wish to start taking ASU Forte, we recommend that you discuss this first with your doctor.

Immune-suppressing drugs: Cat’s Claw plant extract has a stimulating effect on the immune system. It is, therefore, not recommended to take Cat’s Claw in combination with immune-suppressing medication.

    Warnings

Gall stones: ASU Forte contains ginger root extract. As with ginger, this ingredient may promote the secretion of bile. If there are gallstones in the gallbladder, ginger root extract can trigger an attack of gallstones. You should therefore not use this supplement if you have had trouble with gallstones in the past. There should be no problem once the gallbladder has been removed.

Hypersensitivity of the stomach and digestive system: Serious side effects from the use of the various ingredients in ASU Forte have never been noted. The slight side effects that some people experience are generally related to hypersensitivity of the stomach and digestive system.

Pregnancy/breastfeeding: Do not use ASU Forte if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breastfeeding. The supplement has an extremely favourable safety profile, but no studies have been conducted that exclude possible adverse effects on the (unborn) child.

Use by younger people: The use of ASU Forte by children and young adults is not advised. A fundamental point is that supplements should not be started before the body is fully grown. ‘Fully grown’ is taken to mean both skeletal development and hormonal development. The reason that Glucosamine.com recommends this is that no studies have been conducted regarding the safety of this supplement for children and young adults.
